Galp Energia has formalised the contract for the construction for a new cogeneration plant at the Matosinhos refinery and the maintenance of the turbo generators with the consortium formed by ENSUL MECI and Efacec.
The new plant will be equipped with two turbines capable of producing 82 MW of electrical energy and will enable a significant reduction of atmospheric gas emissions, i.e. CO2. This plant will be operational as of 2011 and represents a total investment of 110 million euros.
The cogeneration plant forms part of Galp Energia's investment programme for the Matosinhos refinery, which totals 600 million euros.
ENSUL MECI leads the consortium for the cogeneration plant and also takes part in the general civil construction contract job for conversion of the Matosinhos refinery.
