EDP awarded the work on the new Alto Ceira Dam in the municipality of Pampilhosa da Serra, District of Coimbra, to the Conduril / ENSULMECI consortium. 

The contract for the construction of the new dam, in the amount of º9.6 million euros, includes the civil engineering works; the demolition of part of the existing dam; the supply and assembly of the hydromechanical equipment; the power supply, command and control, and safety installations; the new access roads and the landscaping of the areas affected by the works.

This double-curved arch dam in reinforced concrete will have a maximum height of 41 metres from the foundations, supported by gravity-type abutments. The length of the crest is 100m, along which there will be an access road with a 3-metre wide viaduct.

 The period of construction is 26 months. Works are scheduled to begin in July 2010.
